About You:
The Head Waiter is responsible for supervising the front-of-house service team and ensuring an exceptional dining experience in an upscale restaurant. The role involves leading service within assigned sections, coordinating staff, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring smooth communication between kitchen and service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Supervision:
- Supervise waiters and runners during daily service operations.
- Oversee assigned dining sections to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Ensure guests receive prompt, professional, and high-quality service.
- Maintain fine dining service standards and presentation guidelines.
Guest Experience:
- Welcome and interact with guests to ensure a premium dining experience.
- Handle guest requests, preferences, and complaints professionally.
- Ensure guest satisfaction and take immediate corrective action when needed.
- Build rapport with regular guests and VIP customers.
Team Coordination & Leadership:
- Assign tables and duties to service staff during shifts.
- Train and guide junior waiters on service etiquette and standards.
- Monitor staff performance and provide on-the-job coaching.
- Support restaurant management in scheduling and shift planning.
Order & Service Management:
- Ensure accurate order taking and proper communication with kitchen staff.
- Oversee proper food and beverage presentation before serving.
- Ensure timely delivery of orders and efficient table turnover.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams for smooth operations.
Quality & Standards Control:
- Ensure cleanliness, mise-en-place, and table setup meet fine dining standards.
- Monitor grooming, uniform, and professional behavior of staff.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and restaurant SOPs.
- Maintain consistency in service quality across all sections.
Sales & Revenue Support:
- Promote menu items, specials, and beverage recommendations.
- Assist in upselling and increasing average guest spend.
- Support achievement of service-related sales targets.
Operational Duties:
- Assist in opening and closing procedures of the restaurant.
- Handle POS transactions and ensure accurate billing when required.
- Report operational issues, shortages, or maintenance needs to management.
- Support inventory control of service equipment and cutlery.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or hospitality certification preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in upscale or fine dining restaurants.
- Previous experience as Senior Waiter or Captain Waiter is an advantage.
